Central Maine Team Penning Association (CMTPA) was established on November 26, 1995, by a group of equestrians dedicated to increasing the popularity of this challenging and fast-growing sport. Membership and participation continue to grow, with members hailing from all over our great state, as well as Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and even Canada. The club holds numerous competitions at Maple Lane Farm, in Charleston, Maine, as well as competitions at the Skowhegan Fair, Farmington Fair, and Windsor Fair. Team penning often draws a big crowd at the fairs, with the bleachers packed, and even more spectators standing at the rail cheering on the riders! Due to increased popularity, CMTPA also hosts several Ranch Sorting Events.

Scot Hunt Clinic -  June 2 & 3, 2012!

Beginning with the simplest steps of horsemanship, Scot Hunt will help the rider “communicate” with his or her horse to build a greater relationship that will lead to further advancements in the arena. Penning and Sorting success is built from basic fundamentals that most riders do not pick up when they first begin with the sport. Scot starts with these basic cattle working skills and builds up to the exciting steps of actual penning and sorting runs. By doing this, the rider will build confidence in their self as well as confidence with their horse.
